About Julia Buckingham interiors

An extremely colorful and energetic group of talent, the Julia Buckingham Interiors studio and staff are located throughout Phoenix as well as Scottsdale, and we are open to travel for work. Led by Julia Buckingham, the team brings her signature style, Modernique®, to life designing interiors that are interesting, warm, and curated; where old and new sit comfortably near high and low and where the “rare” helps punctuate the “real” in every room.

Julia quietly creates interest in her interiors by choosing disparate objects. Those careful, artful, and deliberate choices of accents and materials infuse life and interest into a JBI interior. Julia’s interiors maneuver through multiple worlds at once, never colliding but happily residing together. JBI and MODERNIQUE offer a full range of design services for diverse and discerning clients around the world. The creative spirit is infectious, with design projects, fabrics, material selections, and the latest curated finds being carefully considered in the creative mélange known as JBI. The Studio’s work has been featured in leading publications, both in the US and abroad.

Julia's Philosophy

“My Journey has become a way of life, and that way of life has become a lifestyle- Modernique.”

Julia Buckingham has earned a reputation for her award-winning interiors that are a window into the past and a bridge to the future. Her design signature is artfully weaving together a tapestry of antiques, artifacts, and her own custom-designed pieces to create a modern updated style that reflects today’s lifestyle. This aesthetic, which she has coined and trademarked Modernique®, is blending the old with the new to reveal the beauty and delight in unexpected pairings. She believes that passion for the objects used together becomes the “glue” that binds the modern with the antique.

“As a designer, your sense of style comes from any number of places – where you have been, what you love, where your passions lead you. Finding your personal aesthetic is a journey. I found that my “road” crossed at the familiar and the undiscovered; at an intersection of past and present.”
